i love when bloggers... {hawaii marriage blog}

i love when bloggers are honest with themselves. i love it when bloggers put who they are, at the core, out there. like Matt. i am actually a reader of his wifes blog and found him that way. they recently got married and were experiencing some issues with connecting because of their busy schedules.

his post reminded me of the best piece of marriage advice i ever received . it was given to me before my wedding by my former boss who had been married for 44 years. he said....

Once you stop working on your marriage, your marriage will stop working.

that simple people. love your husband/wife on purpose. i know what i'm talking about. sometimes i get caught up in my 3 crazies that i need to focus myself and remember that mike is not my hired assistant. but. my. husband. the love of my life. so. with that said. go and work on your marriage. pronto.

What is the best piece of marriage advice you ever received?

  1. One time when Chris and I were in an argument he said "just remember that at one point you picked me. you thought I was the coolest person around. out of everyone in the world you decided you wanted to spend the rest of your life with me. if you can't get along with the one person you picked, the one person you loved above anyone else, what makes you think you can get along with the rest of the world?"

    I love my husband!

  3. before I got married, one of my mentors told me that the thing she carried with her in her marriage was that it was her role to be her husband's biggest cheerleader.

    I loved that. I boast about Scottie to whomever will listen. I'm so proud of who he is and I want everyone to know. And I especially want him to know as well.I hope I am never his biggest critic, I want always be his biggest fan.

  6. I had always heard that marriage was 50/50. After I got married my Dad told me that it is not 50/50. He said it is 100/100. Both of you need to give 100%. I thought that was awesome. After I thought about it I realized that 50% is only half. Thanks Dad!!

  7. I stick to my own advice :) "my kids will know love and how to love by watching how I treat my husband" "divorce is not an option" "I fell in love with him because he's nothing like me, and I'm in love with him because we've become one soul" "be bestfriends no matter what" "my husband comes first then my children (some disagree) because without him they would be here, we wouldn't be a family and our relatuonship is what keeps us all together" :) marriage is hard work, but its the highest paying job (and being a mommy is second hehe)
