i was cleaning stormies... {hawaii adoption blog}

i was cleaning stormies room the other day. when i went to make her bed, i lifted her pillow and found this photo of her as a baby, kissing her daddy - under her pillow. as adoptive parents its so important to know that she has the same connection to us as we do to her. and these little nothings give us all the comfort in the world.

i prayed for kaleb for... {hawaii motherhood blog}

i prayed for kaleb for many many years. most times on my knees. i wanted him that badly. i wanted him on my time. but alas. god has his own watch. and runs on his own time. Kaleb came on gods time. the perfect time.
the perfect time came three years ago. the day i birthed a child. the day my faith blossomed. the day my son was born. i love watching this video of him making an entrance a few minutes after being born. happiest birthday to you my boy.

there are way too many things that i am grateful for to list. there's my family. the best family. my country. the best country. my moms turkey. the best turkey.

but more than anything i am grateful for my husbands ability to provide for our family. grateful i get to see every waking and learning moments of our children. grateful that i can be a lady of leisure.

grateful that we can bless others because we are blessed.

baby j's worker was gonna

baby j's worker was gonna make me wait a whole week for some news she needed to share...the thing is - social workers have no clue that we as foster parents are hanging on to every word they say...that you love this child as your own and any little change in the case can send you on a rampage or eating binge.

i called her yesterday and told her i was gonna die if i had to wait till next monday. she thinks i'm kidding. we're clearly not kidding.

baby j's birthmother is testing positive. which made me filled with hope that our case will proceed. the news also filled me with sickness for the unborn baby she is carrying.

thats right her 6th child is on the way.

my son is a freak. {hawaii motherhood blog}

my son is a freak. i was reading and drinking my coffee - when i heard him screaming in the kitchen. he came down stairs and was UNCONSOLABLE. he was sobbing. i tried to calm him down, while figuring out when was wrong.

finally he muttered *my teeth broke* i searched in his mouth and everything was in place. he said *look mama. my teeth broke* just then he held of a grain of old rice he found on the floor.

i was laughing telling him, *son - that is old piece of rice, not your tooth* in less than 1 second his tears dried up and said *oh. sorry.*

freak.

2 weeks ago our family, {hawaii family blogger}

2 weeks ago our family lost Batman - our family pet of 10 years. what a special dog...no really - he was special. developmental delay special. dont believe me? he was a product of his mother AND brother getting hot and heavy. believe me now? thought so. we all called him Bubba. as a matter of fact it was all of my kids first word - BUBBA! Now my kids say he's in Kevin (heaven).

Bubba - you will be missed. i hope you get all the scooby snacks you want and get a replacement nut (he only had one). and please dont embarrass the family by asking jesus to scratch your butt. just sayin'

although stormie may not... {hawaii adoption blog}

although stormie may not have my DNA we are very much alike, more than i like to take credit for. maybe that's why we fight so much.

1. when we get hurt (physically), we get angry. we hate being consoled.

2. we hate pickles

3. if we're not GREAT at something, we dont want anything to do with it.

4. we dont like physical affection.

5. we're the tannest ones in the family

6. we have patience issues

7. we are very loud.

8. we both love to take pictures.

My stormie girl. you are my shining light. without you my world would be dark. it feels my heart with lovelovelove to see my dreams and wishes for you come true. happiest 4th birthday princess.

i always dream of moving... {hawaii lifestyle blog}

i always dream of moving to the mainland where it's cheaper. and where there are actually other seasons besides SUMMER...BUT i am GRATEFUL for this place i call home. this rock in the middle of the pacific and the MANY things that are unique to this place.

like....
* every person here having at least 3 ethnicities that make them up
like....
* having our own language, you can tell who is from here by how well they speak pidgin. **if you can translate this words in the photo - you are LOCAL**
like....
* the ability to wear slippahs (NOT FLIP FLOPS) 365 days a year
like....
* feeling cold when the temperature drops to 73 degrees
like....
* being able to flash anyone a shaka and get a shaka in return....

LUCKY I LIVE HAWAI'I

because i am an ungrateful... {hawaii motherhood blog}

because i am an ungrateful creature, i am gonna blog daily about something i am grateful for (november only). today's post is easy because i know exactly what i'm grateful for...

MATERNITY SHORTS.

i just can't bring myself to get rid of my last pair of maternity shorts. they are so damn comfortable. sure my kid is 32 now, but who cares? ok for the record he's only 2...maybe 2 and a half...he'll be 3 next month if your counting.

i dont know whats taking me so long...UUUMMMM actually i do. they are comfortable as hell. they whisper in your ear *keep eating and i'll still fit*

how come women have a hard time parting with maternity pants/shorts? do you still have yours?

unfortunately my guy didnt... {hawaii lifestyle blog}

unfortunately my guy didnt win the election yesterday, but i'm not bitter....ok mabye a bit.

politics in hawaii pretty different from the mainland. take for example the way our candidates campaign...walking door to door AND standing on the side of the road and throwing shakas. i really did try to get a picture for you but i almost crashed my car TWICE, so if you wanna see what i'm talking about - go here!

on the other hand, i did receive some produce from a candidate running for State Representative. ONLY IN HAWAII...

what about where you live....how are things unique there?

i love when bloggers... {hawaii marriage blog}

i love when bloggers are honest with themselves. i love it when bloggers put who they are, at the core, out there. like Matt. i am actually a reader of his wifes blog and found him that way. they recently got married and were experiencing some issues with connecting because of their busy schedules.

his post reminded me of the best piece of marriage advice i ever received . it was given to me before my wedding by my former boss who had been married for 44 years. he said....

Once you stop working on your marriage, your marriage will stop working.

that simple people. love your husband/wife on purpose. i know what i'm talking about. sometimes i get caught up in my 3 crazies that i need to focus myself and remember that mike is not my hired assistant. but. my. husband. the love of my life. so. with that said. go and work on your marriage. pronto.

What is the best piece of marriage advice you ever received?
