while i was leaving the... {hawaii foster care blog}

while i was leaving the beach yesterday, a woman stopped me in the parking lot and asked me if i nannied...my answer - no. she said oh just babysitting....? at that point she pointed to Stormie. my answer - still no. i said "she's mine."

after three years i am still thrown off when people question why stormie is blue eyed and blonde haired. i haven't found an answer i'm consistent with. sometimes i say *she pulled it from my husbands side (lame) * sometimes i say she's adopted *sometimes i say it's a miracle * sometimes i WANNA say does it really matter?

personally, i think we're twins. you must be blind if you can't see it.

  1. This is so tough. My son looks just like me so I never had to deal with this. People are always shocked when I tell them we adopted. But our foster daughter looks nothing like us and lately I have been getting the craziest comments when we go out. I am never really sure what to say so I guess I'm not much help:) But I feel your pain.

  6. I love that you are in the reverse situation from our family. We are pale peeps and now we have a lovely little lady in our family that is so dark I can't figure out how to photograph her with her brother...he rivals Casper during the winter. Even though she's only 2 months old, I've already gone with "What?! She looks just like me!" a few times. :)
